About Shaleece
I came to somatics after years of talk therapy where I'd gotten very good at self-awareness. I could tell you exactly why I did the things I did—I just couldn't stop doing them. When I found somatics over a decade ago, I was finally able to access a knowing in my body that months of talking about my feelings in therapy hadn’t touched. Since then, somatic practice has changed so much about how I show up in my relationships, my organizing work, and my capacity to stay present when things get hard.
I now work as a somatic practitioner and facilitator with organizers navigating burnout; creatives seeking to rediscover their flow; caregivers skilling up their boundaries; and parents and partners longing for more connection in their intimate relationships. I believe this work is for all of us, and I welcome people with bodies of all shapes and sizes, disabled folks, neurodivergent folks, queer and trans folks, and anyone reclaiming their right to take up space.
One of the things I love about somatics is that it is both practical and political. Through practice, we can become more capable of holding contradictions, establishing centered boundaries, and making values-aligned choices under pressure—skills that help us build the movements and communities we need.
I offer coaching and bodywork to individuals and groups—in person in Mid City, Los Angeles, and remotely with people around the world. Outside of my practice, I grow food, cook for people I love, organize with my fellow Angelenos, and practice toward a delicious form of interdependence with an intergenerational mix of queers and neighbors.
