About Shaleece
I came to somatics after years of talk therapy where I'd gotten very good at self-awareness. I could tell you exactly why I did the things I did—I just couldn't stop doing them. Somatics gave me something different: a way to transform those patterns through the body, and in deep relationship with others. In the decade since, somatic practice has changed so much about how I show up in my relationships, my organizing work, and my capacity to stay present when things get hard.
I now work as a somatic practitioner and facilitator with organizers navigating burnout; creatives seeking to rediscover their flow; caregivers skilling up their boundaries; and parents and partners longing for more connection in their intimate relationships. I believe all bodies deserve this work, and I especially welcome people with bodies of all shapes and sizes, disabled folks, neurodivergent folks, queer and trans folks, and anyone reclaiming their right to take up space.
One of the things I love about somatics is that it is both practical and political. Through practice, we can become more capable of holding contradictions, establishing centered boundaries, and making values-aligned choices under pressure—skills that help us build the movements and communities we so desperately need.
I offer individual coaching, group coaching, and somatic bodywork—in person in Mid City, Los Angeles, and remotely with people around the world. I also co-lead a free politicized somatics practice space in LA. Outside of my practice, I grow food, cook for people I love, organize with my fellow Angelenos, and practice toward a delicious form of interdependence with an intergenerational mix of queers and neighbors.
