AETERNA
photographic
chronicles
of daily life
NEW YORK, NY
– February 3, 2003 –
Aeterna Photography, a New York-based company specializing in unique records of
family life, announced today that its founder, Shaleece Haas, has been awarded
a $10,000 grant from the Balance® Bar Business Grant for Extraordinary
Women Entrepreneurs.
Family
Documentary Photography
Haas’
unique approach to family photography combines the traditions of fine art and
documentary photography to capture candid images of daily life —
everything from a father rousing the kids from bed in the morning or siblings
fighting over the remote control, to the rare alone time a mother gets at the
end of the day. By spending several full days with a family over a period of
time, Haas, an experienced photojournalist, blends into the background,
allowing people to relax and go about their daily lives. The result is a
picture portfolio full of vitality and authenticity, rather than the customary
stiff, awkward family portraits.
“I am proud to join the ranks of
women who have transformed their passions into viable businesses,” said
Haas. “The Balance Bar Business Grant is the infusion I have been needing
to ensure Aeterna’s success.”
“Balance Bar awards grants to
creative and dynamic entrepreneurial women, like Shaleece Haas, who are
incubating new business ideas while following their dreams,” said Jean
Smith, Senior Brand Manager for Balance Bar. “We established this program to lend positive energy
to these extraordinary women, and to recognize their often unheralded
efforts.”
Haas was
selected from hundreds of entries to be one of only four recipients of the
Balance Bar Business Grants.
